Wushan Tourist Guide

The ancient saying goes: When you travel to Wushan, there must be poetry. Without reaching Wushan, one cannot understand the beauty of clouds. No wonder more than 6000 famous poems and essays are recited. From ancient times to the present, Wushan County in Chongqing has always had a considerable reputation. Guarding the Yangtze River, there is an ecological environment of clear water and green mountains on both sides, as well as beautiful scenery of red leaves in the Three Gorges and clouds and rain throughout the four seasons.

Every autumn, between the mountains of Wushan, one can see the magnificent scenery of "red leaves covering the mountains like colorful clouds, and colorful clouds reflecting on the Three Gorges every year". According to the Tourism Development Committee of Wushan County, there are more than 200 varieties of red leaves in Wushan, with bright colors and long cycles. Starting from early November each year, the red leaves gradually turn red and continue until the end of December.

After the Three Gorges Reservoir is filled with water, Wushan presents a magnificent new landscape where the high gorge and flat lake complement the red leaves of the mountains. The river, mountains, and red leaves are three in one, and Wushan red leaves are the most distinctive in the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, with the largest area, the most diverse species, the most beautiful landscape, the longest viewing period, and the highest viewing value. Wushan has held multiple sessions of the Yangtze River Three Gorges International Red Leaf Festival and is striving to create a tourism brand with "Fragrant Mountain Red Leaves in the north and Wushan Red Leaves in the south".

Wushan Xiaosanxia is the general term for the Longmen Gorge, Bawu Gorge, and Dicui Gorge of the Daning River, the largest tributary of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, passing through Wushan, with a total length of 50 kilometers. The canyon within the territory is magnificent and steep, with a central line and hidden from the sun. The peaks are connected to the sky, and boats sail through the underground caves. The trees, lush bamboo, steep mountains, and peculiar peaks are colorful and ever-changing.

Sometimes there are clouds and mist lingering, quiet and beautiful, sometimes there are waterfalls rushing and majestic, paired mandarin ducks, monkeys climbing and playing, water birds spreading their wings, fish swimming in clear waters, mountains, rocks, flowers, plants, and trees. Everywhere is poetry and painting! Regarded as a "Chinese wonder" and a "stunning scenery in the world".

Wushan Xiaoxiaosanxia is located on the Madu River, a tributary of the Daning River at the Dicui Gorge. It is the general term for Changtan Gorge, Qinwang Gorge, and Sanjiang Gorge; Xiaoxiaosanxia is the sister gorge of Xiaosanxia on Daning River, with a total length of 15 kilometers. It is named "Xiaoxiaosanxia" because it is smaller than Xiaosanxia on Daning River.

Wushan Xiaosanxia - Xiaosanxia Tourist Scenic Area is picturesque, with a pool of clear water, towering peaks, lush bamboo and trees, and the sound of apes echoing, full of wild charm. The characteristics of Xiaosanxia are beauty and magic. Some people believe that it has six wonders, namely the majestic mountains, clear waters, beautiful peaks, treacherous beaches, secluded scenery, and stunning rocks, which can be called the "Wonderland of the World".

Once upon a time, the sea was difficult to turn into water, but except for Wushan, it was not clouds. Wushan's clouds and rain crown the beauty of the world. The Tang Dynasty poet Yuan Zhen's poem "Li Si" defined the uniqueness of Wushan's clouds and rain. The best scenic spot to enjoy the clouds and rain of Wushan is undoubtedly the Goddess Scenic Area. Among the towering and verdant twelve peaks of Wushan, what makes these mountains and rivers most mysterious and beautiful is the clouds and mist that travel among them.

The Shennu Tianlu Scenic Area is also the culmination of Wushan Cloud and Rain, especially during the summer and autumn seasons when it rains at night in Bashan. The humidity in the canyon remains stagnant and the clouds and mist flow, making the Three Gorges of the Three Gorges seem like a fairyland with ethereal dreams. Mountains in the clouds, water in the clouds, and goddesses in the rain.

Shennuxi Scenic Area is a newly developed tourist attraction along with the construction of the Three Gorges Project. In December 2015, Shennuxi Scenic Area was selected as one of the 30 best new tourist attractions in the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River.

Shennu Creek is a virgin tourist destination on the Three Gorges tourism route, with high mountains, deep valleys, and fast flowing water, in a primitive state with few human visitors. The Goddess Valley is misty and enchanting, with cliffs towering on both sides like cliffs. Tourists enter by boat, and only the beautiful scenery is reflected in the blue waves.

The Grand Canyon consists of Pinghe Grand Canyon located upstream of Wushan Xiaoxia Three Gorges, Lihe Grand Canyon in Dangyang, and Congping High Mountain Wetland Park. It is said that the reason why this land is called "Dangyang" is because the rock walls on both sides of the canyon are towering and steep, and sunlight only pours into the canyon when the sun is shining every day. The tranquil and cool Dangyang Grand Canyon is so beautiful that it makes people imagine, but don't miss the Congping High Mountain Wetland at the top of the canyon.

There is a road here known as the 'most beautiful scenery road' - Dangjiu Road. Dangjiu Road, connecting Dangyang Township in Wushan and Dajiuhu National Wetland Park in Shennongjia, Hubei, with a total length of 50 kilometers, shoulders the important mission of opening up the "Great Golden Triangle" tourism circle.

The first section of Dangjiu Road is about 20 kilometers long, following the riverbed of Pinghe Grand Canyon and reaching Dangyang Fengqing Town directly. Walking deep in the canyon, looking up at the green cliffs from the bottom of the valley along the way, the waterfall cascades down from the towering cliffs, hitting the rocks at the bottom of the valley, and the dew with the fragrance of leaves soothes the restlessness of the world. The second section is about 10 kilometers long, circling up from Dangyang Fengqing Town to Renziping in Dangyang Township, accompanied by beautiful canyon countryside scenery along the way. The third section is about 20 kilometers long, starting from Renziping and crossing steep mountains like a cliff plank road, leading directly to the Dajiuhu Wetland Park. Along the way, you can enjoy the magnificent scenery of lush peaks and overlapping mountains.
