Zigui, the hometown of Qu Yuan, is located in Hubei Province. It is the hometown of Qu Yuan, a great patriotic poet of the Chu state during the Warring States period in China, and also one of the birthplaces of Chu culture. The Qu Yuan Hometown Cultural Tourism Area is a national AAAAA level tourist attraction. Zigui County is located at the throat of Sichuan and Hubei provinces, on both sides of the Xiling Gorge of the Yangtze River. The great patriotic poet Qu Yuan left behind rich historical and cultural relics here, mainly including Qu Yuan's hometown and Qu Yuan Temple.

The main contents of the Qu Yuan Hometown Protection Area include the Qu Yuan Memorial Scenic Area, mainly centered around the Qu Yuan Temple, the Three Gorges Ancient Residential Area, with a focus on Xintan Ancient Residential Buildings, Xiajiang Stone Carvings, Xiajiang Ancient Bridges, and other attractions such as the Qu Yuan Cultural and Art Center and the waterfront landscape belt.

The development and construction of the Qu Yuan Hometown Scenic Area is based on the theme of promoting Qu Yuan culture, tracing the Chu charm of the Xia River, and embracing the sentiments of the heavens. It highlights the cultural heritage of Qu Yuan's hometown, adds cultural connotations, combines the rich historical and folk culture of Zigui County with Qu Yuan cultural resources, cultivates and develops literature, opera, performance, and cuisine with Ba Feng Chu charm, and expands and excavates sacrificial, entertainment, and tourism service projects with strong local characteristics; At the same time, we will focus on developing tourism products with rich cultural connotations such as historical relics, religious culture, residential culture, tea culture, etc. that have local characteristics of the Three Gorges.

The Qu Yuan Temple is an important component of the national cultural relics protection area. The original site of Qu Yuan Temple was located at "Qu Yuan Tuo" five miles east of Guizhou City in Zigui. It was built in the Tang Dynasty and renamed "Qinglie Gong Temple" in the third year of Yuanfeng (1080 AD). In July 1976, due to the construction of the Gezhouba Water Conservancy Project, it was relocated to Guizhou and renamed "Qu Yuan Temple". Nowadays, due to the construction of the Three Gorges Dam, the newly built Qu Yuan Temple is located on the mountain ridge of Fenghuang Mountain, facing southeast and opposite to the front of the Three Gorges Dam. It consists of buildings such as the mountain gate, two wing annex, stele corridor, front hall, music and dance tower, main hall, enjoyment hall, and Qu Yuan tomb.

The development and construction of the Qu Yuan Hometown Scenic Area focuses on promoting traditional Chinese culture, inheriting and carrying forward Qu Yuan's great patriotic spirit and romantic feelings, combining the rich cultural relics, historical culture, and ecological tourism resources of Qu Yuan and Zigui, creating the Three Gorges cultural tourism product, and ultimately becoming a demonstration area for cultural relics protection in the Three Gorges region and a nationally renowned cultural tourism area.
