(Publish Time::09/07/2020 Info Release::Meiya Yangtze River Cruise Tourist/Author::Breath)

The Gezhouba Water Conservancy Hub is located at the end of the Yangtze River Three Gorges in Yichang City, Hubei Province, China, 2.3 kilometers downstream of the Nanjinguan exit of the Three Gorges. It is the first large-scale hydropower station on the Yangtze River and also the world's largest low head, high flow, runoff hydropower station.

The Gezhouba Project has comprehensive benefits such as power generation and improvement of waterways. The return water in the reservoir area is 110-180 kilometers, which improves the navigation conditions of the Chuanjiang River. The total storage capacity of the reservoir is 1.58 billion cubic meters, due to shipping restrictions; In 2013, there was no flood control or peak shaving effect. After the completion of the Three Gorges Project, it can have a counter regulating effect on the uneven flow caused by flood control and discharge, with a counter regulating storage capacity of 85 million cubic meters.

The Gezhouba Hydropower Station is located in Yichang City, Hubei Province, 2.3 kilometers below Nanjinguan at the exit of Xiling Gorge on the Yangtze River. It is the first large-scale hydropower project built on the main stream of the Yangtze River and serves as the anti regulation and navigation cascade of the Three Gorges Project.

The Gezhouba Project is the first dam constructed along the Yangtze River, and is a component of the Three Gorges Project. The Gezhouba Water Conservancy Hub Project consists of ship locks, power plant buildings, spillway gates, flushing gates, and water retaining structures. 1、 The second two ship locks can accommodate fleets with a load capacity of 12000 to 16000 tons. The third ship lock can accommodate passenger and freight ships of less than 3000 tons. The total installed capacity of the power station is 2.715 million kilowatts. The water retaining dam has a total length of 2595 meters, a maximum dam height of 47 meters, and a reservoir capacity of approximately 1.58 billion cubic meters.

Gezhouba is not only an important water conservancy project, but also a Yangtze River bridge that runs north-south. Its dam crest is built with railways, highways, and sidewalks, connecting the north-south roads in western Hubei. Tourists visiting Gezhouba can first go to the reception room of Gezhouba Engineering Bureau to watch the electric model of the dam and the color documentary of the river closure, and then go up to the dam to enjoy the magnificent scenery of the dam.

On September 18, 2019, various colored lights installed in Gezhouba were officially turned on for the first time. Several large colored lights decorated Gezhouba exceptionally beautifully at night, welcoming National Day. This is the first time in the 38 year history of Gezhouba's construction and navigation that landscape lights have been turned on.
