Fengdu Ghost City

Fengdu Ghost City, formerly known as Fengdu Ghost City and formerly known as "Bazi Biedu", was established as a county in the second year of Yongyuan by Emperor He of the Eastern Han Dynasty. It has a history of nearly 2000 years and is located on the north bank of the Yangtze River in Fengdu County, downstream of Chongqing. It is a tourist attraction for Yangtze River cruise passengers.

Fengdu Ghost City is also known as the "Youdu", "Ghost Country Kyoto", and "Hometown of Chinese Divine Comedy". Guicheng is famous for its various Yin Cao Di Fu buildings and shapes. There are many buildings in the ghost city that depict the underworld, such as the Heha Temple, Tianzi Hall, Naihe Bridge, Huangquan Road, Wangxiangtai, and Yaowang Hall.

The first batch of AAAA level tourist attractions in China, Fengdu Ghost City, is a historical and cultural city that originated in the Han Dynasty and is known as the "Capital of the Ghost Country" and "Yin Cao Di Fu". According to the "Du Ren Xiang" during the Wei and Jin dynasties, Fengdu was located by the Six Tian Qing River, with three palaces and nine mansions. The palaces and towers were as precious as the Heavenly Court, and the Ghost Emperor was stationed here, overseeing billions of ghosts and gods. Becoming the destination of human souls. It is not only a legendary ghost city, but also a treasure trove of folk culture and art that integrates Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism. It is one of the most famous cultural landscapes on the Yangtze River Golden Tourism Line.

Fengdu Guicheng Scenic Area is divided into Guicheng Mingshan Scenic Area and Guiwang Stone Carving Scenic Area. Famous attractions include Naihe Bridge, Guimen Pass, Eighteen Layers of Hell, Heha Temple, Hall of Gratitude, Wangxiangtai, etc. Each attraction embodies the true essence of ghost city folk culture of "punishing evil and promoting good". Among them, the statue group of "Hell Earth Mansion" simulates human litigation, court, prison, etc., with a unique idea and a lifelike manner, which reflects the Chinese people's ideas of god and ghost, heaven and hell. There are also inscriptions on the famous mountains by celebrities of all ages, such as Su Shi, Lu You, Fan Chengda, etc.

In December 2015, Guicheng Mingshan Scenic Area was selected as one of the 30 best new tourist attractions in the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River.
