The number of tourists received in the Three Gorges Project tourist area reached a new high in 2018

In 2018, the Three Gorges Project Tourist Area aimed to showcase the national treasures and image of the Three Gorges in all aspects, improve service quality, and receive 2.91 million tourists, setting a new historical high and firmly establishing the tourism benchmark image of the Three Gorges Project Tourist Area.

In April 2018, General Secretary Xi Jinping inspected the Three Gorges Project and gave high praise with "one symbol, three models", praising the Three Gorges Project as a major national treasure, greatly inspiring and driving the enthusiasm of domestic tourists to visit and explore the Three Gorges Project scenic area. From the May Day holiday to the National Day Golden Week and even weekends and other holidays, the Three Gorges Project tourist area has experienced frequent peaks in tourist reception, breaking the record for tourist reception during the same period of the day multiple times. In 2018, the scenic area received 2.91 million visitors throughout the year, an increase of 460000 people or 18.76% compared to 2017, ranking among the top in the national scenic area industry.

At the same time as receiving tourists, the tourist area focuses on upgrading the scenic spots, creating smart tourism attractions, and promoting smart tourism construction projects on schedule. The second phase of smart tourism construction, standardized rectification of network environment, construction of comprehensive dispatch emergency command center, photoelectric sand table, comprehensive control system, WIFI coverage project in scenic spots and other network optimization measures have been orderly promoted, effectively enhancing the soft power of scenic spots. According to statistics, in 2018, more than 10 construction projects were completed, 65 facilities and equipment were maintained, 160000 square meters of green management were improved, and more than 100000 pots of festive flowers were placed, further enriching tourist service facilities. The satisfaction rate of tourists with the visiting environment in the scenic area has significantly increased. The Three Gorges Project Tourist Area has also been listed on the Hubei Province Tourist Attraction Red List during the "National Day" Golden Week for three consecutive years.

The tourist area also fully utilizes the unique resource advantages of the Three Gorges Project, establishes special classes, conducts specialized research and planning of study courses, promotes the construction of teaching infrastructure in the scenic area, hires professional trainers and counselors, and tailors patriotic education study practice classrooms for students with focus and professionalism, creating a high-quality brand for the Three Gorges Project study base. In 2018, the Three Gorges Project's study tour products quickly covered Hubei Province and even the whole country from Yichang City, receiving nearly 50000 study tour teams throughout the year.

In addition, the tourist area has successfully held various unique themed activities, showcasing the image of the Three Gorges Group in all aspects, promoting the culture of the Three Gorges Project, and further demonstrating the brand appeal and influence of the Three Gorges Project tourist area. Traditional offline activities such as "Three Gorges Tourism Market", "Love Yichang (Shandong, Shaanxi, Fujian, Jiangxi and other places) Promotion Conference", "Yichang's First Qipao Culture Tourism Festival", as well as online promotional theme activities such as "Angel Traveler Network Live Streaming", "Love Yichang Network Fan Carnival", "Riding Fire Car to Travel Large scale Live Streaming", "Science Popularization Three Gorges", etc. Among them, the "Three Gorges Project Tourism Market" series of activities was watched by about 5 million people through newspapers, outdoor screens, and new media. This activity not only promotes the development of tourism in Yichang City from "scenic area tourism" to "comprehensive tourism", but also creates a "Three Gorges Project+" tourism resource promotion and transformation platform and a tourism industry activity brand, effectively driving the economic development of surrounding areas.

On December 26, 2018, Three Gorges Group signed a series of memorandums of cooperation with the Yichang Municipal Government to promote tourism development. The memorandum proposes to build an international tourism zone that matches the display platform of major national weapons, and to form a new pattern of "one zone and four towns" inside and outside the Three Gorges Project hub management area. This measure will form an international first-class tourism comprehensive benefit demonstration zone with the Three Gorges Project as the core, which is rich in connotation, beautiful in scenery, pleasant in environment, and good in experience.
