The Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River, also known as the Three Gorges Water Conservancy Hub Project or the Three Gorges Project. The Xilingxia section of the Yangtze River in Yichang City, Hubei Province, China, and the downstream Gezhouba Hydropower Station form a cascade power station. The Three Gorges Dam is the largest hydroelectric power station in the world and also the largest engineering project ever constructed in China. The picture shows a panoramic view of the Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River, where deep hole flood discharge is being initiated.

The peak flow of 56000 cubic meters per second reaches the Three Gorges Dam. The Three Gorges Dam has more than ten functions, including navigation, power generation, planting, and more. Construction officially began in 1994, and water storage and power generation began on the afternoon of June 1, 2003. The entire project was completed in 2009.

The picture shows the cruise ship "Yangtze River Golden 8" returning to its home port through the waters of Yunyang. Since the establishment of the "Chongqing Hubei Tourism Special Line Ship", there has been a new chapter in the Three Gorges water tourism spectrum.

The Three Gorges Hydropower Station has a dam elevation of 185 meters, a water storage elevation of 175 meters, a reservoir length of 2335 meters, a static investment of 135.266 billion yuan, and the installation of 32 hydroelectric units with a single capacity of 700000 kilowatts.

The ship docked at Maoping Port in Zigui County, Hubei Province, upstream of the Three Gorges Dam where the water level rose to 157.69 meters.

The Three Gorges Dam is a concrete gravity dam with a length of 2335 meters, a bottom width of 115 meters, a top width of 40 meters, an elevation of 185 meters, and a normal water level of 175 meters. The dam body can withstand a catastrophic flood that occurs once every ten thousand years, with a maximum discharge capacity of up to 100000 cubic meters per second.

The Three Gorges Project has three main benefits, namely flood control, power generation, and navigation, among which flood control is considered the most core benefit of the Three Gorges Project. Now the Three Gorges Project has also become one of the popular destinations for tourists.
