Nowadays, traveling to the Three Gorges is usually done by tourist boat. It takes at least 2-5 days to travel from Yichang to Chongqing by tourist boat. There are not many boats on the Three Gorges in Shangshui. My classmates and I previously took the Yangtze River Sightseeing No.2 and booked tickets on theMeiya Three Gorges Cruise booking website. The itinerary was three days, which is actually only two and a half days. We arrived in Chongqing at noon on the last day.
