Century Legend Cruise requires a tip, can it be waived

A good friend of mine came back from a trip to the Three Gorges and asked for a tip on the cruise ship he was on. Coincidentally, I chose Century Legend Cruise and I would like to ask if it is possible to waive a tip if Century Legend Cruise requires it?

I haven't heard that tips are required on the Three Gorges cruise ship. Are you referring to tips as service fees? As far as I know, Chinese Mainland guests on the Three Gorges cruise ship do not need to pay tips. If it is a non Chinese Mainland guest who needs to pay to the ship owner after boarding the ship, the tip is about 150 yuan per person.

I think the habit of tipping is something that only foreign people have, and I haven't heard of this practice in China yet. And we don't have the habit of tipping, so if we are asked for a tip, we will definitely feel a little unhappy.

@molinca2021:OP, do you want to ask if it is possible to waive the tip requirement for Century Legend Cruise? I suggest you check the relevant information on the Meiya Three Gorges Cruise ticket booking website. Click on the Century series item in the cruise series to find the Century Legend cruise. Please check if this special requirement is mentioned in the cruise information introduction.

@西西1777:As far as I know, Century Legend Cruise does not have a mandatory requirement for passengers to give tips when boarding. If the staff privately ask guests for tips, I think we can file a complaint with the shipping company.

@开启人生路:Generally speaking, as far as the public understands it, the so-called tip should be given by yourself after you are particularly satisfied with the service of a staff member, and the amount should be determined by yourself to show gratitude. This should not be related to the service fee charged by the shipping company, and the amount of tip you voluntarily pay to the staff member will not be deducted from the corresponding cruise service fee.

@所谓伊人在水一方:My friend seems to have encountered this situation once, when someone asked for a tip, but he didn't give it at that time. Once it's over, it's okay. It's okay either.

@桃花不换酒H:Tipping should be voluntary, there is no mandatory requirement to give it. If it is necessary to give, then it is not called a tip.
